The boys are in a stage where they love trains, but more specifically, they LOVE Thomas the Train. When I was little my parents took us to a little amusement park in the mountains of Boone, NC called Tweetsie Railroad. As its name suggest, it has a real life steam engine, and it just so happens that once time a year, they turn Tweetsie Railroad into THOMAS THE TRAIN! I had wanted to take the boys to see it because I knew they would love it but it just seemed we were too busy to go. Well, we were sitting around on Wednesday night this week and just wondered if they might still have tickets available to go see and ride Thomas... They did! So we decided to be a little spontaneous and head up to Boone, NC and see him! It ended up working out perfectly because our friends Tim and Meg live in Boone and said they wouldn't mind watching Piper while we took the boys.
The boys absolutely loved it! It was perfect. The weather was gorgeous and not hot at all AND Thomas was as real life as he could be... We got to enjoy a wonderful day at Tweetsie. We rode Thomas of course which was the highlight of our time there but we also got to ride cars, helicopters, eat ice cream, see Sir Topham Hatt and so much! And amazingly the boys were really well behaved (even after going to bed at midnight the night before).
Here are some pics from our day... Look at this first one. It was when they saw him for the first time. They started running toward him waving and saying "Hi Thomas...". Precious.
And here is what little Pipey was doing while we were away... becoming a mountain baby!
Attempts at trying to get a family picture before we headed out. Failure...
