Last night Clay and I traveled down to Macon, Ga to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame to see his Grandad, Cliff Kimsey, get inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. It is a HUGE honor, and at 90 years old, his granddad was so honored to get this special award. He was an amazing athlete in high school and went on to play football at the University of Georgia. At the University of Georgia, Grandaddy Cliff shared a backfield with GSHF inductees Frank Sinkwich and Lamar “Racehorse” Davis and played tailback, fullback, and blocking back during his collegiate career. In 1942 Cliff was the recipient of UGA’s Outstanding Senior Athlete Award. Not only did he play football, but he played baseball for the Bulldogs too! He is now the oldest living football player from the University of Georgia, as well as one of the sweetest men I have ever met. Here is a picture of Grandaddy Cliff...

There were five other recipients of the award last night, one being John Smoltz from the Braves...

It sure felt like it today... I can't wait for Spring and yesterday was definitely a teaser. It was in the 70's and we got to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. We went to play tennis with our cousins and then went to get ICE CREAM. It was the boys' first time having an ice cream cone and I think they enjoyed it...

Some time has gone by since I last posted but I promise we are still here. Two weeks ago today my mom came to pick up the boys to go to Charleston and Clay and I got to go out to Colorado to ski (and snowboard). We met my cousin Hannah and her husband Darin as well as my cousin Harrison, my roommate from college Caitlin, and my cousin Hannah's two friends Ryan and Katie.

Up until then, Steamboat hadn't got much snow, but once we got there, they got the best snow of the season! We had so much fun... Clay LOVES skiing. I was really glad we got to go out there because Clay had been talking about it for a LONG time now. We went three years ago and since then I have been pregnant or had new babies so it wasn't really easy for us to go...

You like that progression of pics? Just wanted to show how they really started to get comfortable with sitting in his lap. Ha. So moments after these pictures were taken, my friend Katherine and I rescued them. Then to my disbelief, Santa asked if we could give it one more try because he said that he wasn't holding Charlie on his lap well... Uhhhhhhh. Really?! You think that was the reason they were upset? (I didn't say that, but I was thinking it). So we did round two. Does ANYONE think it went better the next time around? Ding ding ding... You are right, it did NOT go well. It was actually worse. We probably will never go to Santa again, but at least I got some good pics :)

Thanksgiving and the Christmas Tree "Farm"

This past weekend was wonderful. We spent Thanksgiving here with Clay's side of the family and we enjoyed a day of great food and fellowship with the family. I don't have many pictures from Thanksgiving... actually, only two. One of my pumpkin cheesecake I decided to whip up last minute, and my husbands nasty mustache he decided to grow for the occasion.

The day after Thanksgiving, we headed out to get our tree at the Christmas Tree Farm Home Depot. Since we had been Christmas shopping for a few hours and then went to get the tree, the boys had to be entertained with snacks to keep the peace. Here are some pics...

Sick Little Charlie

So last Thursday (just over a week ago), we were sent to the hospital after getting Charlie checked out at the doctor. Apparently he had an enlarged infected lymph node that was causing him to feel pretty sick and have high fevers. Once at the hospital, they started him on IV antibiotics and got his blood work done. The results came back that he had staph in his blood and we had a FOUR day stay ahead of us! Because he was doing so good, we got to come home late afternoon on Monday (he was happy and fever free the second we walked in the door Thursday night and his whole stay). Here are some pics... (he was in isolation and couldn't leave the room because they didn't know what he had)

Because he couldn't get on the floor and play, everything

became a type of toy to give him. This was one of his favorite...

the attention of other visitors and hospital staff.

Lounging. You can imagine he got pretty bored but

surprisingly he was so good the whole time!

was taken, there were about 8 doctors (many were residents) outside

his door with clip boards discussing his treatment options!

We feel SO SO SO blessed to be out and thank God that He is so gracious and good. Our time there wasn't spent with too much worry or fear like MANY people there and we are in awe of His goodness to us. Being in a place where so many are suffering, makes you reflect on the Lord and how much peace He can bring even in those tough times!

Coastal Carolina Fair

The fair is a very special place to my family. Ever since we were very young, our Poppi took us to the fair every year. He is part of the Exchange Club (a men's volunteer group) which sponsors the fair every year and because the fair grounds are owned by the Exchange Club, Poppi gets all of his family into the fair for free and we get free hand stamps for the rides too!

It was only fitting for us to take the boys to the fair this year! Poppi was so excited that the boys were going that he almost cried when we told them we were taking them. He said that it was "all he ever wanted". So cute. Here are our pics!

WELL, it went GREAT! I was so glad I decided to just "see" how they would do. Of course when they first got them on, all they wanted to do was pull the hood off, but once they had it on a few minutes, they were back to playing in the pumpkin patch...

Since our church meets on Sunday nights, we have really started to love the time we have as a family on Sundays. The boys' party was so great! The weather was in the low low 80's, beautiful blue skies, the boys were well rested, and we had our closest friends and family there to celebrate. We had people come from Charlotte and Charleston as well as those who lived near. It is such a wonderful blessing to be so loved by so many people and for them to love our precious boys enough to travel to see them!

I have not forgot to write, nor have I forgot to post the boys birthday pictures... We just have been going through a season of "adjusting" (that is what Clay has called it) and so I have not had the time to do much.

Now that the boys are 1 year olds, they have decided to show me their PERSONALITIES. They have started to have opinions and make sure they are known. They are still wonderful little buddies but we are working on our attitudes around this house :) I also believe they are teething (probably their molars) and that probably has led to some of the whining I have been experiencing.

We were able to get a day off last weekend for the Auburn game! Clay's mother so graciously watched both boys by herself ALL DAY LONG so that we could head to Clemson to see the game and be with friends. It was such a fun time and we were so glad to be able to enjoy such a beautiful day with friends (and a win)! Here are some pics of the day...

ONE YEAR ago TONIGHT

This very time last year, I was patiently awaiting the delivery of my baby boys. Miller came at 10:51 p.m. and Charlie came at 11:33 p.m! It was (besides the day I married Clay) the greatest day of my life. I think back on it and it was the greatest week of my life and the greatest month of my life and the greatest year of my life. I can think of SO many wonderful things about this past year and it makes me so joyful and filled with such love for them, for Clay, and for my Lord. How gracious He was to give me such a wonderful (actually TWO wonderful) gift! Here are some pics from last year, this very night...

This was the neatest moment. I hadn't gotten to hold them yet because they needed to be "observed"

so this was around 2 in the morning when they had finished observing them and getting them cleaned up, ect. They rolled those babies in and it was SO incredible looking at these little things that I had

held in my stomach for so long and having them be brought in for me to take care of now. MAN. I can't

put in words how neat it was. I miss that moment.

Clay and I both got a baby to hold and look at and study.

We just talked about how wonderful each of "our" babies

were.

could get some sleep since it was about 5:30 in

the morning when we got done "playing" with them.

The Little Men Are Turning One!

My house is empty now, but we had 7 adults and 4 children here this weekend. The boys had their ONE YEAR Birthday Party yesterday and we felt so extremely blessed. How awesome to have friends and family TRAVEL to come celebrate the wonderful gift the Lord has given us... TWO amazing, happy, healthy 1 year old baby boys (and did I mention that they are also pretty cute:)!

It's That Time of Year

FOOTBALL SEASON... and we have a very happy boy in our house! Of course I love football season, but it does not even compare to my husbands love for it. Even though watching football can get old (when I don't know the team or have any connection to it whatsoever), it is nice to see the person you love enjoy something so much!

Today we headed to Clemson for the first home game of the season and Clay and I were very excited to spend the day there with our babies... Here are some pics!

National Eat Outside Day

Yesterday was National Eat Outside Day... Who knew?!? I didn't, but as soon as I read online that it was, dinner got moved outside. Honestly, I love eating outside and the babies are so messy now when they eat, that eating outside is even more enticing. The reason we probably don't do it as much as I would like is because of our TREES. You love them for the shade, but that is about all you love them for. THEY DROP STUFF YEAR AROUND AND WE CAN NEVER KEEP THE PORCH OR YARD NEAT!!! Hence why I have the professional blower now.

Governor's Cup Surf Competition

Every year since we were young, my dad and brothers have competed in surf contest. My brother Chris and Caleb are pretty good surfers and were even sponsored by some well known companies when they were younger. They love surfing and do it for fun but every once in a while they will still compete. Here is a picture from the Post and Courier of my brother Caleb at the Governor's Cup this past weekend at Folly Beach...

I know both my Dad and brother Caleb placed in their divisions but congrats to my brother Chris, who WON his division!

I CANNOT believe they are going to be one in just a couple of weeks. They are little "men" now. I have just been SO SO SO blessed by them and it is hard to find words to describe how I feel. When I am not with them (which is not often), I just think about how I miss them and love them and just hope they are doing okay. They are my boys. They are MY babies! Ahh... I could just talk about them forever! THANK YOU LORD FOR MY SWEET BABY BOYS!

I feel like the boys were born in the best time of year. The fall is so wonderful and the thoughts of football and cool weather are on my minds. BUT, in this house hold, fall means something else too... LEAVES. And a ton of them. We live under a canopy of trees and the amount of leaves that fall is treacherous. We have always borrowed our brother-in-laws blower, but I just got one of the best gifts I have ever received from Clay...

SO excited about this! My very own professional leaf blower! Because I am seriously a professional! I am ready for the fall to begin...

... Not our birthday quite yet, but it IS only a few weeks away. Today we went to this sweet boy Nicolas' birthday. He was born just a few weeks before my babes. This was the boys' first "friend" birthday party that we have attended. What We've Been Up To

We are home after 9 days of being in Charleston! The boys were GREAT in the car ride down and back, PRAISE GOD. We never had any crying fits. A few whiney moments but that was about it. I was very glad.

Our time back in Charleston was great. It is so nice to be able to spend a lengthy amount of time home. It gives both myself and the boys some real quality time with my parents and other family. Every time I am home, my mom just blesses me and blesses me the WHOLE time I am there by taking on a huge amount of the work with the babies and letting me hang out with friends. I am so GRATEFUL to her for that time. It really is nice to have those breaks. THANK YOU MOM!

We finally got our tubes last week! YAY! Hopefully no more ear infections!!!

The procedure went very well and I was so thankful to have my mom there to help me with the process. They did very well but were pretty sad after it was done and slept the majority of that day.

Sick again. Charlie was up all last night with high fever. We went to the doctor this morning and they can't find anything wrong with him. We just have to wait... He has continued to have fever all day today and just seems so helpless and pathetic.

While Clay and I were in the room last night helping Charlie in the dark, Miller woke up and just watched us for about a half hour from his crib. It was so sweet. He didn't say a word. Just rested his chin on the crib rail and watched us rock Charlie, put him back to bed, rock him again, put him back to bed...ect...ect. I guess he just knew why we were in there and so he just looked on as his brother was trying to be comforted. Here was a pic I snapped in the dark while I was waiting for Clay to get done rocking Char. It was so cute because it was so dark that you could just see his little image standing up watching everything going on.

Here are some other pics of my sweet baby boy today. I had to give him a bath to cool him down from 103.8!

As of this second, Miller is napping and Charlie seems to be feeling a little better (still has fever but is in better spirits)

I hate to say it, but I guess we are just sickly people. Who would have thought?

Weekend at the Lake...

The boys and I got home from Charleston/St. Simons this past Thursday night, and we were out the door the next day to spend the weekend on the lake with friends.

Lucy and Grant (friends we met through Clay's friend Zach) have a lake house on Smith Lake in Alabama. It is actually a gorge that they flooded so it is over 75 feet deep in front of their house and just a little further out is over 250 feet deep! Because it is a gorge it has rock shore line which makes it a very clean lake.

We really had a fun time getting to hang out with friends. Not only did we enjoy the lake, but the boys enjoyed it too. They were able to hang out on the lake just like the rest of us... I don't have many pics because we never got our camera out but here are a few from camera phones...

Beach Boys

We have been at the beach since Saturday and time has flown by... I cannot believe tomorrow will be our last full day. I have looked forward to this trip so much and it has come and is going quickly!

The boys like the beach but in small doses. We can't stay forever down there but we get some good time in while we are down there. Miller eats sand non stop. And we let him (there is no use in stopping him when there is a whole beach full of it). Charlie is non stop (which is fine because there is a whole lot of space for him to move in).

We found an old Graco stroller from the early 1990's that was made for the beach (with it's big wheels) that has been a dream to use for the boys. It is a one seater, so we put Miller in the seat, and we stow Charlie in the basket on the bottom... HE LOVES IT. He is so relaxed and chilled down there. I think most of the people who watch us feel bad for him, but we don't because he is so content down there. Also, it has made it possible for Clay and me to take them down to the pool or beach by ourselves because we can carry both of them at the same time. It has been just great.

I don't have my camera cord here to upload pics but I have a few from when I was in the house with the boys while Clay was golfing... Man I love these little boys!

We went to Walmart today to "stock up" on baby food. I figure we better buy it at Walmart before we go to the beach because the grocery stores there are ridiculously expensive and with the amount of food I have to buy for these two, it really makes a difference.

Did I mention they love shopping? I guess because it is out of the house and they like to do a LOT of people watching (like their momma...). AND of course everyone stops to talk to them, which they like a lot too!

YEP YEP YEP... The babes have ear infections again. Well, Miller does at least (Charlie just has fluid). We also all have a cold, which I suppose is what brought on the ear infection. Now we finally get to go to the ENT and figure out what we might do with them... perhaps it is time for tubes. So if you think the blog hasn't been updated all that much, it is because of a week of VBS and a week of SICKNESS.

All this sickness reminds me of a little video my brother put together recently with his friends about medicine. Check it out. It is short and very funny...

... and my friend Chris' mom use to make them when I was younger. He would bring them to school in his lunch box and if I was so lucky, I would get one. They are an old Amish tradition and are delicious. I have never made them but this weekend I saw a mix for them at the grocery store and thought I would give it a shot. I thought for sure that they wouldn't be anything close to the real thing since it was out of a box, but to my surprise they were pretty awesome! Hopefully one day soon I will get the real recipe for them. I wasn't the only one who loved them, these little boys joined in on the fun by being my taste testers...

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to ME (and Clay of course)!!!

Yep, 4 years ago to the day I was in Mt. Pleasant getting my hair and make up done. And now my hair hasn't been washed in days and I am wearing make up from yesterday. How things have changed...

But I wouldn't have it any other way. I LOVE my life and I have been blessed beyond words. My parents always prayed for our (my brothers and myself) spouses and I am so glad they did because I wound up with best husband there is. Thoughtful, loving, sincere, content and caring are some of the best ways to describe him. He is my best friend and I am his as well. I love that.

We weren't doing "gifts" because we made a big purchase recently that is a big gift to each of us but look what I did get in the mail today... (these pics are pictures taken of pictures on paper so not the best quality and don't give quite the whole effect)...
